Bahraini student elected Arab Child Parliament Speaker

Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi received Ritaj Ibrahim Al Abbasi, a student from Al Hidd Secondary School for Girls, for winning the Speakership of the Arab Child Parliament in its second session.
The election was organised by the Parliament’s General Secretariat at its headquarters in Sharjah and followed up by the Arab League, where she obtained 52% of the votes, outperforming candidates from 12 Arab countries. Retaj earned 31 out of 61 votes.
The Minister congratulated the student for this honourable achievement that is added to the Kingdom’s international achievements at the educational level.
He stressed that this victory comes as a result of the Ministry’s keenness to support student talents in all fields and to implement activities that seek to develop their abilities and build their personalities, referring to the role of citizenship education courses in providing students with concepts related to legislative and parliamentary work in the Kingdom.
He expressed his thanks to the Ministry’s officials for following up on the student, training her and providing her with competencies that contributed to her attaining this position, wishing her all success in her new tasks.
