Bahrain receives shipment of vaccines

The Ministry of Health announced that it had received a shipment of vaccines that are routinely administered to children of different age groups.

The shipment includes mainly The hexavalent vaccine that contains the (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type B, hepatitis B, and inactivated polio vaccine), as well as the measles, mumps, and rubella (DMR) vaccine, and the chickenpox (diphtheria) vaccine.

The ministry distributed the shipment to health centres and began coordinating to invite groups who did not complete these vaccinations, who did not receive the required dose, to come to their respective centres and receive their doses.

“The shipments were distributed after ensuring their compliance with the requirements of the cold chain to all health centres and government hospitals to be given to the target groups”, said Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Mariam Al Hajeri.

She said that coordination was made to reschedule appointments for groups that did not receive the vaccine to ensure that they complete these vaccinations.

The hexavalent vaccine that contains (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type B, hepatitis B, and inactivated polio vaccine) is administered to children aged two and 4 months.

The shipment includes also the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, which is administered to children aged 12 months and 18 months, and the diphtheria vaccine, which is given to children aged 12 months and 3 years.
