Bahrain and Israel discuss ways to develop bilateral cooperation

The Joint Coordination Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Israel held its first meeting yesterday at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation of Bahrain was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Ambassador Dr Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, in the presence of the Chief of Strategic Affairs, Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal.

The Israeli side was headed by the Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alon Ushpiz.

 Dr Shaikh Abdullah explained that the meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee comes in preparation for the political dialogue meeting between the two countries foreign ministers, in implementation of the memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation between the Bahraini and Israeli Ministries of Foreign Affairs, signed on October 18, 2020, in Manama.

 He stressed the importance of continuous communication between the two friendly countries to fulfil their common goals and achieve peace and development in the region.

Ushpiz highlighted the development of bilateral relations, commending the Kingdom’s vision of peace and coexistence, wishing it further progress and prosperity.

Praise for growing relations Dr Shaikh Abdullah met in Tel Aviv yesterday with Israel Foreign Affairs Minister Yair Lapid.

He congratulated Lapid on assuming the position of Prime Minister, wishing him success in his future duties.

Dr Shaikh Abdullah praised growing relations between the two countries at all levels, stressing the importance of continuing to support the efforts aimed at bringing peace and prosperity to the region.

Lapid expressed his country’s keenness to strengthen ties with Bahrain in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples, wishing the Kingdom further progress.

They also discussed ways of developing bilateral cooperation in addition to other issues of common interest.
