Another heinous act of animal cruelty has come to light as dozens of dead animals were dumped in the Hamala area, near farms and stables.

After receiving the report through environmental activist Abdullah Hassan’s social media post, the Ministry of Municipalities promptly took action by started removing them.

Yesterday morning, the Municipality had removed the carcasses of animals in the area, although some more bodies were still dumped at a distance from them.

Hassan denounced what he described as the “barbarism” of some by dumping dead animals in an open area, despite the presence of a hotline for the transportation of animal carcasses by the Municipality without fees.

He warned on the danger of randomly throwing dead animals in public places which may cause the transmission of diseases, in addition to emitting unpleasant odours and disturbing passers-by.

Hassan called on animal breeders to cooperate with the competent authorities and pay attention to the importance of following instructions issued by them to properly dispose of the carcasses.

He added that this phenomenon occurs annually during summer as a result of a large number of livestock deaths.

The concerned authorities remove them, but the breeders repeatedly throw the corpses, calling for the dissemination of a culture of sound and healthy ways to dispose them of.
