Hygiene violations to cost you dearly
Behaviours like public urination and spitting might soon cost penalties of BD50 – BD100 in Bahrain, it has been revealed.
The move comes as parliamentarians seek to impose tougher penalties on environmental and hygiene violations in Bahrain.
MPs will vote on a law proposal in relation to general cleanliness this Tuesday, during their weekly meeting. The law imposes stricter rules in regards to public cleanliness, aiming at curbing behaviours that endanger the environment and public health.
The law is presented by Public Utilities and Services Parliamentary Committee, who said “the revised law is required to fill the legislative gap in regards to regulating public cleanliness.” Committee members explained hat the new law would specify responsibilities of the public in maintaining a hygienic environment in the country, curb uncivilised behaviours and grant municipalities more authorities.
The proposal criminalises abandoning vehicles on public roads, washing vehicles in inappropriate areas, displaying vehicles for sale on public roads and other industrial, medical and construction waste disposal violations.
