Governor inspects Ashura observances
Capital Governorate Governor Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa visited the ongoing Ashura commemorations in old Manama on Friday.
Shaikh Hesham’s inspected the Manama central mourning procession and was briefed about the organising and security procedures.
The visit was made to ensure that the recommendations of
the previous meetings, held by the Capital Governorate with the related parties, to the commemorations are implemented.
The visit included Bab Al Bahrain area and the course of the precessions. Shaikh Hesham stressed on the concept of religious rites freedom, which is enjoyed by the people of Bahrain.
Shaikh Hesham was accompanied by Capital Governorate Police Director Colonel Khalid Al Thawadi,
Capital Governorate Deputy Governor Hassan Al Madani, Hoora Police Station Head Colonel Isa Al Qattan and other officials.
The Governor chaired several coordination meetings during the past weeks with officials of Jaffaria Waqf Directorate of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, Muharram Processions Authority and representatives of Maatams (community and religious centres) and processions.
