Bahrain is committed to cooperating with the international community in providing humanitarian relief in Afghanistan including facilitating a first evacuation flight to the US by the Kingdom’s national carrier, Gulf Air.

This was discussed at yesterday’s weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Gudaibiya Palace.

The evacuation operation reflects the Kingdom’s solidarity with other countries to support humanitarian relief efforts for the people of Afghanistan.

In this regard, the Cabinet stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of civilians in the war-torn country. The Cabinet also expressed its gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his support to Team Bahrain’s relentless efforts to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19), led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

In line with the statement issued by HM the King marking the conclusion of the Ashura religious holiday, the Cabinet commended the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as the support received from various organisations and people for the success of the observance, including the Jaafari Endowments Council, religious scholars, heads of matams, and volunteers.

The Cabinet stressed the importance of continuing to adhere to the precautionary measures aimed at safeguarding public health. It congratulated Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the SCW.

The Cabinet affirmed its commitment to continue to develop initiatives and policies that enhance the progress of Bahraini women and their role in government in cooperation with the SCW.
