The Embassy of India has organised an Open House during which Ambassador Piyush Srivastava interacted with the Indian community virtually to redress their urgent and non-routine consular and labour issues.

Ambassador Srivastava applauded the support of the Bahrain government through its vaccination campaign for the community. He welcomed the decision of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) to issue fresh work visas to Indian citizens.

The Ambassador thanked the community for their overwhelming participation in the virtual events held to celebrate India’s 75th Independence Day.

He also briefed the community about the visit of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kochi to Bahrain to mark the occasion and the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Bahrain.

Ambassador Srivastava encouraged the community members to continue following the Kingdom’s coronavirus (COVID-19) advisory and protocols, as well as to get vaccinated to support the country’s efforts in fighting the pandemic as well as for their own safety.

He also thanked the local authorities for the safe repatriation of 12 housemaids during the months of July and August with the coordination of the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF).

With the support of Indian associations and local authorities, the stretcher patient, Sadanandan, has been safely repatriated to India. The long-pending travel ban case of Harikumar has also been resolved. The Ambassador wished all of them good health and stay in India.

He asked the community members to regularly visit the Embassy’s website and social media accounts which are being updated on a real-time basis for the information and convenience of all. It was a productive interactive session.

The grievances and issues of the Indian community were successfully addressed; some resolved at the Open House, while others will be taken up at the earliest possible. Ambassador Srivastava thanked all the Indian associations and community members for their active participation in the event.
