Bahrain’s urgent relief aid shipment for Afghans arrives in Kabul

Bahrain is committed to continuing humanitarian work which its society has always been known for around the world. This comes as a humanitarian relief aid shipment dispatched by the Kingdom to support the Afghan people arrived yesterday at Kabul Airport.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa had issued directives to flow the urgent humanitarian relief aid to Afghanistan. He also assigned the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), chaired by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, to supervise the operation.
A delegation led by RHF Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Planning and Charity Resources Development Mohammed Aqeel Al Awadhi and Aid Department Chief Hani Mohammed Al Ansari handed over the shipment.
The delegation conveyed greetings from HM the King as well as the government and people of Bahrain, wishing Afghanistan security, stability and peace.
The Afghan Health Minister welcomed Bahrain’s humanitarian relief shipment which landed at Kabul Airport, as Afghanistan goes though difficult times. HH Shaikh Nasser said that the consignment represents Bahrain’s contribution to meeting the basic needs of thousands of Afghan families, particularly vulnerable people including women, children and the elderly.
RHF Secretary-General Dr Mustapha Al Sayyed also paid tribute to HM the King for his directives and humanitarian initiatives in favour of needy and disaster-stricken people.
He also praised the government’s support, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He lauded the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser, as well as his support for the foundation to dispatch humanitarian relief aid to the Afghan people.
Dr Al Sayyed also commended the supportive role of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Health and Bahrain Defence Force so as the consignment could be flown quickly to Afghanistan
