No shortage of teachers: Ministry
Education Ministry denied the recent reports in local media, stating that “Bahrain is suffering from severe shortage of teachers, while hundreds of graduates remain jobless.”
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Human Resources Assistant Undersecretary Dr. Mohammed Mubarak recently, he clarified that “there’s no shortage of teachers in public schools in Bahrain.” He said: “The Ministry completed setting a plan in this regard and is currently implementing it. All schools have sufficient numbers of teachers and substitute teachers. The news circulating regarding the shortage of teachers is false.”
The official reaffirmed that “no classes are left without teachers,” adding that “qualified substitute teachers are available in case some teachers take emergency leave for Hajj, delivery, sickness or other reasons.”
Dr. Mubarak revealed that more than 3000 female teachers in public schools were benefitting from two hours daily to take care of their newborns. “This number doesn’t affect the academic processes at public schools.” He also criticised the way the matter was rehashed by the media, despite the Ministry’s repeated clarifications.
