Gulf Air will reportedly launch its first flight to Israel on the fourth of October.
Houda Nonoo, the former Ambassador of Bahrain to the US and non-resident Ambassador to Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, tweeted this on her Twitter handle @hnonoo75 today.
"In honour of flights launching shortly, shall I share a list of the top 10 sites to see in Bahrain?" the tweet reads.
The tweet also gathered a barrage of likes and retweets within hours of appears.
In reply to one of the tweets welcoming her announcement, Nonoo also wrote, "Thank you! I very much enjoyed my first two trips to Israel last November and look forward to returning shortly!"
"Excellent news. The launch of this route has been postponed so many times already," another wrote, replying to Nonoo.
Gulf Air, last month, had also opened a tender launched for hiring ground handling, cargo and lounge services at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The tender, Tender Board document says, also attracted three companies, including Laufer Aviation GHI Ltd, Quality Airport Services, and Aerohandling Ltd. Laufer's quote stands suspended, leaving the other two as the contenders.
The tender was for hiring the services for five years.
Isreal and Bahrain had also named ambassadors recently, following the normalisation of the ties a year ago.
Eitan Na'eh is the Israeli Ambassador to Bahrain and Khaled Yousif Al Jalahma, Bahrain's Ambassador to Israel.
In September 2020, the UAE and Bahrain both inked US-brokered deals to establish ties with Israel, a move later followed by Sudan and Morocco.
