Ensure terrorists are not harbouring Afghanistan, says Al Zayani

Bahrain Foreign Minister yesterday called on nations in the Arab league not to allow terrorist organisations to make Afghan their hub. Arab nations, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said, should work to “ensure that Afghanistan will not become a centre for harbouring terrorist organisations, which are still active in some countries, such as Daesh, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organisations.”
Speaking at the Council of the Arab League in its 156th regular session at Arab League in Cairo, the minister said these challenges require the Arab states to take a firm stance to deal with them with wisdom and determination to protect Arab national security.
“Daesh, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Houthis, Al Nusra Front, and other organisations on the international terrorism list that still receive support from regional countries to implement their destructive ambitions and goals,” the minister said.
“There is also huge military and financial support offered to terrorist organisations in violation of the principles of good neighbourliness and international laws and conventions.”
He told the meeting that what happened in Afghanistan prompting Arab countries to assume their responsibility to extend a helping hand.
Touching on water security, Al Zayani said that several Arab countries are at risk, citing Egypt, Sudan, Syria and Iraq.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in Kuwait and President of the current Session, Dr Shaikh Ahmed Nasser Al Mohammed Al Sabah, chaired the meeting.
