Policemen hailed following successful Ashura season
The efforts of Public Security personnel in securing and organising the crowds during Muharram and Ashura commemorations and processions were appreciated by religious authorities in Bahrain.
Jaffaria Waqf Directorate (JWD) of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry Chairman Sheikh Abdulmohsen Al Asfoor appreciated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa on holding a successful Ashura season in the country.
Sheikh Al Asfoor hailed the directives of the Wise Leadership to Government entities and establishments to facilitate the Muharram and Ashura commemorations across Bahrain.
He underlined that the annual Royal Grant distributed among Maatams (community and religious centres) has played an important
role in making this year’s commemorations season a successful one.
The chairman said in a press statement, “The role of policemen in securing the commemoration festivities and protecting the public is undeniable.”
He valued the efforts of security authorities in preventing any terrorist attacks during the occasion, despite the dangerous threats and recent happenings in the region.
“Following the instructions of Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the different departments of the ministry intensified its presence in the areas of the commemorations,” Sheikh Al Asfoor pointed out.
JWD Chairman also underscored the processes of issuing entry passes for religious clerics and scholars to enter the Kingdom and hold religious lectures during the Ashura commemorations.
Personnel of the General Directorate of Traffic were also thanked for organising the crowds and the flow of traffic.
The chairman’s statement highlighted the high levels of coordination received from the various official authorities.
He thanked Health Ministry officials for doubling their efforts to ensure healthcare to the participants in the religious occasion and opening Imam Hussain Clinic in Central Manama, near the venues of the commemorations.
“We also thank Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry for providing 24-hour cleaning services at the venues of the commemorations. Electricity and Water Authority’s role is also unquestionable, as they provided technicians and water tankers to prevent any power cuts or shortage of water supplies,” Sheikh Al Asfoor added. He commented, “This year’s Muharram and Ashura commemorations season has been one of the most successful ones organised in Bahrain.”
