Now mobile service at your doorstep
Two students from University of Bahrain majoring in Information Systems has started an innovative business, which stands out for its convenient service.
Instead of opening an ordinary phone repair shop, Zubair Anwar and Muhammad Osama launched a startup, an on-demand service, iScreenFix, to repair smart devices.
Anwar explains his business this way. “Let’s say you drop your smartphone and it’s display cracks. Now, you have to immediately attend a meeting or class, and so you can’t take it to a shop. All you need to do is to call or Whatsapp us, and send us your location. We will come and repair it on the spot. If it’s a bigger issue, we take it with us, repair it and return it immediately. This way, you can save your valuable time.”
The idea lit up in Zubair’s mind and soon he researched about the resources he would need, before starting to seek investments from his closest network.
When asked about the challenges faced by the iScreenFix team, they said establishing trust in their service was the biggest one.
“There is always some resistance for a new and innovative idea. Some of the challenges that we faced were spreading recognition of our service, building trust with the target market, delivering value to our customers and showing people how easy and convenient our service is,” one of the team member said.
The team has huge plans for the future. “Once the business takes off, we would want to have our own dedicated staff servicing multiple clients at the same time. And probably one day, we will expand our operations to neighbouring GCC countries,” he added.
