Dr. Jawahery attends FAO meet
Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery attended a meeting of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Committee on Food Security (CFS) at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
Forty high-level representatives from 39 countries took part in the meeting to discuss the world’s food security and nutrition.
The meeting also discussed the development of knowledge, skills and talents of young people to achieve food security and nutrition.
This was held under the supervision of specialists, where participants discussed challenges and opportunities to engage young people in the agricultural sector and develop the capacity of the sector.
Dr. Jawahery stressed the importance of taking necessary action to engage and develop the capacity of young people and encourage them to contribute to food security and nutrition issues.
Dr. Jawahery urged participants to harness the innovation, energy and dynamism of young people, which, he said, is essential to overcome challenges.
The CFS was founded in 1974 as an intergovernmental body to serve as a forum in the United Nations and to review and follow up on policies concerning world food security.
In 2009, it underwent a reform process to make itself more effective and to increase its ability to promote policies that reduce food insecurity.
