Bahrain set for Uzbek challenge in Asian volleyball

Bahrain is set to face off with Uzbekistan today in their first game of the ninth to-16th classification round in the 21st Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship in Chiba, Japan.

The match is scheduled for a 9 am start, Bahrain time, and it will be played at Funabashi Arena. The contest is part of the action in Pool G, which also includes India and Kuwait. Bahrain’s win over their Indian counterparts from the preliminary round carries over to this stage’s standings.

The Bahrainis are set to take on Kuwait tomorrow to determine the placing they will fight for in the tournament’s final classification. Bahrain is coached by Brazilian Marco Antonio Queiroga, and are in Japan with a roster that includes Ali Khairalla, Husain Sultan, Abbas Al Khabbaz, captain Mahmood Hasan, Ali Ebrahim, Mahmood Alafyah, Mahmood Abdulwahed, Mohammed Anan, Ali Habib, Hussain Aljeshi, Ali Alsairafi, Nasser Anan, Mohammed Yaqoob and Mahmood Abdulhussain.

The Bahrainis completed their preliminary round campaign narrowly missing out on a spot in the top eight. They won their first Pool A contest against India but then bowed to Japan and Qatar in their ensuing fixtures.
