Traditional and non-traditional challenges and threats are casting a shadow on the security and stability of the region, a top Bahraini diplomat told students and specialists during a meeting at Harvard University, adding that US presence is key to maintaining regional safety.
“Facing these challenges and threats require cooperation and unifying efforts,” said Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America.
The observations came as he reviewed the strategic partnership and bilateral relations linking Bahrain and the United States of America, mainly in the defence and security fields, during a talk show at the Belfer Centre of Kennedy College at Harvard University.
Shaikh Abdullah told the meeting that the US play a prominent role in promoting security, peace, and stability in the region. The Ambassador also presented many examples depicting Bahraini-American partnerships in various fields.
“One of them being Bahrain’s firm commitments to support international humanitarian efforts in relief efforts and evacuations from Afghanistan,” he said.
Bahrain’s efforts in Afghanistan follows the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Shaikh Abdullah also shed light on the “courageous step” taken by Bahrain to sign the Abraham Accords to support peace in the region and efforts of the Kingdom in combating the coronavirus pandemic.
