His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday welcomed the opening of the Embassy of Israel in Bahrain. Their highnesses described the move as a step that affirms the importance of further strengthening Bahrain-Israel bilateral ties and cooperation. This came as HM the King held talks with Yair Lapid, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Israel, at Al Sakhir palace and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister with Lapid at Gudaibiya Palace.

His Majesty the King welcomed Lapid and reviewed the progress of bilateral relations and the steps that would contribute to broadening areas of cooperation between the two countries. King Hamad told Lapid that the signing of the Declaration Supporting Peace and the principles of the Abraham Accords is a historic accomplishment towards achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.  The deal aims at “meeting the aspirations of the people of the region for security, stability and prosperity,” added HM the King.  King Hamad affirmed that peace is a strategic option for the Kingdom.

“Bahrain’s vision and approach focus on fostering the values of understanding, dialogue, cooperation, peaceful co-existence, tolerance and rapprochement among peoples,” His Majesty said.  King Hamad further told Lapid that Bahrain is keen to support all efforts for achieving peace, stability and development that would benefit all. King Hamad also valued highly the role played by the United States of America in reaching peace agreements and endeavours for peace in the region.
