Expired food and personal care products seized from shop in Manama

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism’s Inspection Department seized expired food and personal care products being sold in a grocery shop and stored in its warehouse in Manama.
Abdul Aziz Al Ashraf, Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources at the Ministry, said that all legal measures were taken, in coordination with the Health Ministry’s specialists, before carrying out an inspection and eventual closure of the shop.
Al Ashraf said the move was within the framework of the Ministry of Industry’s supervisory role to enhance safety of the commercial environment. He stressed the need for owners of various shops to take responsibility in verifying the sources of their products and the validity of their dates and safety, especially food.
Al Ashraf said that the ministry will implement strict procedures in accordance with laws to preserve the health and safety of consumers, and promote fair competition.
The shop is served with a notice of closure.
Personal care products’ dates of validity are expired.
