Bahrain and US strategic partnership is reviewed

Bahrain and the US are committed to strengthening further friendly relations and strategic partnership as well as their perpetual development in various fields.
This came as Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met yesterday US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Peninsula Affairs Daniel Benaim.
During the meeting, they also reviewed the efforts made by the two countries to maintain security and stability in the region and promote peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence for the benefit of its peoples.
Both sides also exchanged views on the democratic process in Bahrain and the efforts made by the kingdom to protect human rights. The meeting was attended by Charge D’Affaires of the US Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Margaret Nardi, Chief of American Affairs Sector at the Ministry, Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and Chief of Human Rights Sector, Dr Arwa Hassan Al Sayed.
Meeting with Ombudsman
Also yesterday, Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al Ma’awda met Benaim who was accompanied by a delegation from the US Embassy.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Ombudsman, Ghada Hameed Habib. The Ombudsman hailed the US delegation’s visit which comes within the framework of international cooperation activities and communication with representatives of diplomatic missions in Bahrain.
The visiting guest was briefed about the duties of the Ombudsman’s Office and the pioneering procedural steps taken by Bahrain to protect human rights, particularly those benefiting children and inmates.
Present at the meeting from the Ombudsman’s Office was also International Cooperation and Development Director Shaikh Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa, and Dr Al Sayed.
