Mercedes merchandise fly off shelves
Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg might be engaged in bitter rivalry, but that doesn’t deter racing fans from buying Mercedes merchandise.
According to Mohammed Awadh, a vendor at the merchandise shop at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), anything from t-shirts to caps with Mercedes logo or Lewis Hamilton’s name printed on it, sell like hotcakes.
Speaking to DT News, Awadh said he and his team were having a tough time managing the crowd at the shop. He added sales were much better yesterday.
“In the coming days the number of customers would increase. By the weekend, there will be two more shops in the vicinity,” he said.
“Though products of various teams are available, there is a higher demand for Mercedes merchandise. I don’t know the exact reason, but people prefer that,” he told DT News.
Meanwhile, Andrew Taylor, a Formula One enthusiast, who came all the way from UK said he wants to preserve all merchandise he had bought.
“I’m a big-time fan of Mercedes team. It’s not because the team is based in UK. I guess I like the team because of Hamilton,” he added.
