His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to achieving regional and global environmental security.
It is a commitment strengthened over the last week by both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia’s announcements of their intention to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2060.
This came as HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister participated yesterday in the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) Summit held in Riyadh.
The summit was hosted by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia.
Heads of state from around the world took part in the summit, including Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Jordan Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted Saudi Arabia’s strategic role in furthering regional development and environmental protection.
He welcomed the initiatives undertaken by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and others to preserve the natural environment and combat climate change, saying that this is a global challenge that requires a united approach to ensure a prosperous future for all.
His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of knowledge sharing between countries to develop CCUS technology, reduce carbon emissions, and increase energy efficiency, stating that we all have a collective responsibility to achieve climate security and secure a sustainable future. HRH Prince Salman also highlighted the important role of agricultural nurseries in realising the MGI Summit’s afforestation goals, committed Bahrain to supporting these efforts, and commended Saudi Arabia’s success in organising and hosting the summit.
‘Invest in Humanity” HRH Prince Salman arrived yesterday in Riyadh to take part in the fifth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) which begins today.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is participating in the three-day event which is held under the theme “Invest in Humanity” and will end on October 28.
It is held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport, His Royal Highness was received by the Deputy Governor of Riyadh, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Shaikh Humood bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and several other senior officials.
His Royal Highness was accompanied by an official delegation of senior officials.
