As part of the year-long Mega Medical Camp, the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) has organised breast cancer awareness camp at the Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre in Manama.
Nearly 90 women underwent medical checkups and attended doctor consultation.
Ravishankar Shukhla, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India, was the Chief Guest and he addressed the participants and interacted with medical teams and ICRF volunteers.
Shukhla was received by Dr Salman Ghareeb, Medical Director of Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre.
“Breast cancer is a disease feared by all ladies and generating an awareness is the need of the hour.
Many ladies hesitate to approach a doctor even if they notice a suspicious lump.
ICRF in its outreach into the community focuses on providing a forum to dispel the fears and myths associated with breast cancer,” said ICRF Chairman Dr Babu Ramachandran.
All the participants attended breast cancer awareness sessions conducted by Dr Anisa Baby and Dr Shyni Suseelan.
As a special gratitude to ICRF’s Medical camp during the month of breast cancer awareness, Shifa Al Jazeera is offering a discount of 50% on Mammogram and ultra sound scanning for the participants until 31 October 2021.
All the participants were provided with lunch and multilingual COVID-19 awareness flyers as well as gift hampers.
The year-long Mega Medical Camp aims to conduct medical check-ups, in association with various hospitals/medical centres to more than 5,000 workers.
The medical camps will be held at various medical facilities on alternate Fridays.
The screen checks shall be followed by doctor consulting for all and specialist consultancy to the needy workers.
