More illegal workers have been arrested and are now facing deportation proceedings as a result of the government’s intensified campaign to maintain the labour market’s stability.
This came as the Enforcement Sector of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) yesterday organised an inspection campaign on shops and several expatriate employees gathering places in the Southern Governorate.
It was conducted in cooperation with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) at the Ministry of Interior and the Southern Governorate Police Directorate.
The individuals arrested were found to have committed several violations related to the provisions of the LMRA Law and the Residence Law in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The authority said that it will organise weekly inspection campaigns in cooperation with the NPRA and relevant government agencies.
It aims to identify violations that may affect the justice, flexibility, and competitiveness of the labour market.
Violators will be deported by the legal mechanisms in place.
LMRA stressed that measures have been taken for the deportation of the free visa expatriate workers.
LMRA reiterated the importance of the society’s role in supporting the efforts of government agencies in addressing illegal practices in the labour market to preserve the security, social, health and economy.
It urged the public to report any complaints related to labour market violations and irregular employment.
