Several expatriates in the Northern Governorate who were found to have breached the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) provisions and the Residence Law in the Kingdom of Bahrain were arrested yesterday.
In a statement, LMRA said that deportation procedures were taken against the lawbreakers by the legal provisions and regulations.
This came as LMRA conducted an inspection campaign on expatriate employees’ gathering places in the governorate.
The clampdown, which was coordinated with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) at the Ministry of Interior and the Northern Governorate Police Directorate, is in line with the government’s directives to step up intensified inspection campaigns to maintain the stability of the labour market.
LMRA announced that it would conduct weekly inspection campaigns in cooperation with NPRA and relevant government entities to clamp down on violations that would affect the justice, flexibility, and competitiveness of the labour market.
It stressed the importance of the society’s role in supporting the efforts of government entities in addressing illegal practices to maintain security and support, social, health and economic stability.
LMRA called on the public to report any complaints related to the labour market and illegal expatriate workers.
