Congratulations galore for Muharraq Club

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, showered congratulations on the Muharraq Football team for winning the AFC Cup, also for the second time in its history.

“This achievement reflects the development and distinguished levels achieved by Bahraini football in the Asian continent and enhances the historical achievements of the ancient Muharraq Club and its champions,” HM the King to Board Chairman of Muharraq Club, Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa, in a message.

Muharraq Club football team clinched the trophy for the second time in its history after beating Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf 3-0 in the final yesterday. His Majesty praised the performance, high spirit and determination shown by the players throughout the competition.

King Hamad also praised the technical and administrative staff for helping the team lift the well-deserved title. HM also thanked fans from all over the Kingdom for supporting the team in this outstanding success.

HM the King wished Muharraq Club and all national clubs further success in continuing their bid to honour the Kingdom in various sporting events and championships. His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa hailed the victory of Muharraq Club in the AFC Cup as a reflection of the “determination, defiance of the sons of the homeland and the status of the sport in Bahrain.”

HRH Prince Salman sent congratulations to Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Muharraq Club, board members, and players. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister praised the Club for bringing honour to Bahrain in regional and international events.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister described the accomplishment as the result of the care and support accorded by HM the King to Bahraini sport. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, extended congratulations to HM the King and HRH Prince Salman on Bahrain’s victory in the AFC Cup.

“This achievement confirms the interest of HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in supporting Bahrain clubs in their journey,” said Shaikh Nasser. He added: “With this win, the Muharraq team honoured the Bahraini football. Muharraq players showed high fighting spirit and determination.”
