'Bahrain’s democratic and human rights achievements a model to emulate'

The royal reform project has yielded an inspirational democratic and human rights experience which has become a model to emulate intolerance, coexistence, transparency, openness, understanding, harmony and peace.

This was emphasised by Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal as she received yesterday a delegation from Bahrain Friends Group at the European Parliament who are visiting Bahrain to get informed about its democratic experience and activate parliamentary diplomacy.

Speaker Zainal asserted the kingdom’s advanced status in the fields of human rights, freedom, democracy, tolerance, promoting the culture of peace and co-existence, respecting pluralism and differences between peoples and societies.

Zainal attributed the advanced international ratings of Bahrain to the promotion of freedom and democracy in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

She asserted the significance of activating parliamentary diplomacy and consolidating relations with brotherly and friendly countries in various fields.

The Speaker noted the need to benefit from the successful parliamentary experiences and highlight the kingdom’s civilisational achievements, pointing out the kingdom’s approach of transparency, clarity and openness.

The Bahrain Friends Group delegation underscored the importance of the visit to get informed about Bahrain’s experience.

They praised HM the King’s far-sighted vision that bears a global and humanitarian message.

They also pointed out the kingdom’s rich experience in the parliamentary, democratic and human rights field, affirming the European Parliament’s keenness to build solid relations with the legislature in the country.

Friendly relations

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani received yesterday the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, and her accompanying delegation.

Al Zayani commended friendly relations between Bahrain and Russia, reviewing means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights to achieve the desired goals.

He also highlighted the efforts and achievements of Bahrain in the field of human rights in light of the support given by HM the King.

The members of the delegation stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between the two countries in the field of human rights in international forums, wishing the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity
