Bahraini woman granted divorce from abusive husband

A Bahraini woman has won a divorce case which she filed against her husband, ending 15 years of marriage.
The High Shariat Court decided to rule in favour of the woman after being assured of her claims that she was abused and continually insulted by her husband.
The woman deserted her husband three years ago, staying at her family house.
According to her lawyer, her husband demanded BD20,000 to divorce her, warning her that he will keep her afloat for life.
“He wanted to keep her hanging in the balance for life, offering her to pay BD20,000 for the divorce,” lawyer Nafeesa Daabal said.
“As a result, she resorted to the Court.”
As per the records, the woman reportedly filed 25 complaints against him for assaulting her.
“The court has found my client’s statements valid, therefore decided to divorce her.
For her it was impossible to continue living with him,” Daabal added.
