The High Appeals Court of Bahrain will consider the case of a man in his sixties who was awarded a six-year jail term on two counts of forgery. According to court files, authorities have charged the defendant with signature forgery to bring in a housemaid.

The foul play came to light when the person, whose signature was misused, attempted to bring a maid. He found that there was already a maid registered under his name, without his knowledge.

The victim then filed a complaint based on which police opened an investigation. Police investigation led to identifying the suspect, who also admitted to the crime during interrogation.

Another case also surfaced when authorities contacted another person regarding a maid registered under his name. Further investigation found that the second person was also a victim of the same person.

“I was surprised. I didn’t bring any maid to the country, so I filed a complaint,” the second victim said. Following a trial, the High Criminal Court sentenced the suspect to six years in prison.
