Bahrain Deputy PM reopens Bilaj Al Jazayer beach

Deputy Prime Minister and Mumtalakat Chairman, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, reopened the Bilaj Al Jazayer beach yesterday to the public, after more than a year-long hiatus caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The project will now open doors every day from 8 am to 6 pm and enjoys the follow-up and interest of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Khalid also unveiled a new logo and branding for the development during the event organised by Edamah, the Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company.
Southern Governor, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, was present.
The BD 5 million development is part of the comprehensive development led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The first phase of the development covered coastal reclamation, parking spaces, service facilities, and a 1.2km walkway
Mini tourism city
“We will add more facilities in the upcoming phases to turn the area into a mini tourism city in line with the 2022-2026 tourism strategy,” he said.
Opening by 2024, Avani and Tivoli hotels will be the first hospitality projects at Bilaj Al Jazayer.
The development has won Best Leisure Development-Bahrain in the Arabian Property Awards 2021 and received a nomination for Best Leisure Development-Arabia.
These are Minor Hotels Group’s first hospitality projects in the Kingdom.
Bahrain, Shaikh Khalid said, is determined to overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and transform them into opportunities to invest in Bahraini citizens and offer them a decent living.
Mumtalakat CEO and Edamah Chairman, Khalid Al Rumaihi, thanked HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his support to Edamah projects.
Bilaj Al Jazayer, Al Rumaihi said, will have wide-ranging economic implications and significantly raise the tourism contribution to GDP.
Edamah is the real estate arm of the Mumtalakat Holding Company.
Edamah CEO Amin Al Arrayed said, “We are delighted to reopen our doors after more than a year, following a lengthy hiatus to protect public health during the global COVID-19 pandemic.”
Things to know
Beach visitors are required to pre-book their visit through the ‘Tamarran’ app and purchase BD 2 Bilaj Beach Credits to enter.
Children under 12 do not need to purchase a voucher, but an adult must accompany them.
The beach credits can be redeemed against renting beach furniture such as sun loungers and umbrellas and for water activities or by purchasing food and beverages from any F&B outlet on the beach.
Numbers will initially be limited to 1500 guests at a time.
