Nepali guard kills compatriot by slitting throat

Manama

In a blood-chilling incident, a security guard of a popular mall in Manama has turned a murderer as he took the life of his colleague and compatriot, it emerged.

The Nepalese man murdered his friend in an apartment in East Riffa by slitting the latter’s throat. Til Kumar, who is currently in police custody, is alleged to have killed Dipendra Basnet following a personal dispute last Sunday night. According to sources, Mr. Kumar claims to have been a subject of abuse from Dipendra, the victim, which became the motive for the crime.

However, Kumar’s version of the story was alleged as "hard to believe" by his colleagues who described Dipendra as being polite and gentle. Both of them work at a Securi Core, a company that provides security personnel to private companies.

Various sources have claimed that the killer amputated the victim's private parts and threw it away. Right after the murder, Kumar allegedly video-taped the dead body and the crime scene in dim lights. He uploaded the video to social media and commented on the video stating that he got "justice" through his actions. After this, he left to a nearby shopping mall for reasons not known. Later, he is reported to have called his colleagues to inform them about his crime.

The Ambassador of Nepal, Mani Prasad Bhattarai, told DT News that the embassy was informed by members of the Nepalese community about the crime. He confirmed identity of the men and said that he is currently awaiting the official police report. "We do not have any official information presented to us so far. At the moment, everything what we have are information passed on to us by Nepalese citizens,"  he said.

Speaking to DT News, Kumar and Dipendra's colleagues who lives in the same building where the crime took place, said that they had seen Kumar walking out of the building after the murder. "I saw him walking out of the building as I was going in, but he did not even look at me so I didn't bother. Later, when I went to see Dipendra, he was wrapped in his blanket. I poked him to wake him up. Since he was not responding, I removed the blanket from his face found him soaked in blood. I ran out of the room and informed everyone about it," he said.

He added they have never seen the duo fighting. "It comes as a total shock to us because they are known to be enemies. We have no idea what was the cause of the dispute but we are certain that there were no fighting because we haven’t heard any noise."

Dipendra is survived his wife and two children who are residents of Nepal.
