The Bahrain Airport Services Company will hire 70 Bahrainis, nominated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, with wage support.

The move is according to a Memorandum of Understanding the ministry signed with BAS yesterday.

The deal also calls for training 30 Bahraini citizens in specialised courses having four to six-month duration.

They will receive a stipend of BD100 per month during the training period.

The deals came as the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jameel Humaidan, visited the headquarters of the BSA, where he met the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Nabil Khalid Kanoo.

Mohamed Khalil Ahmed, the CEO, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs in the Ministry, Ahmed Jaafar Al-Hayiki, were present.

Humaidan inspected training and development centres and laboratories, including the Aircraft Engineering Training Centre, and met citizen trainees in ground operations, shipping, catering, aviation engineering, aviation security, airport services and air transport.

Bahrainisation percentage of BAS, its CEO told the minister, has reached 80%, with 170 Bahrainis are scheduled to join.

Next year, there will be vacancies in the catering, maintenance, passenger services and operations sections.

The CEO also explained to the ministry the efforts undertaken to uplift women into leadership positions through comprehensive training programmes that exceed 200 training courses annually.

The minister praised the BAS for its efforts to employ Bahrainis and maintain job stability.
