Drug peddler gets five years jail in Bahrain

The High Criminal Court sentenced a man to five years behind bars for peddling illicit drugs.
The Public Prosecution had charged the suspect with peddling and consuming drugs.
Court files say the man landed in the Police net following a tip-off received regarding his illegal activities.
The investigation included an operation executed using an undercover agent to catch the suspect red-handed.
The arrest followed an agent in plain clothes approaching the unsuspecting man and offering to buy drugs worth BD30, which he accepted.
They also reached a deal to meet in Al Louzi to hand over the drugs. Police surveillance team members swooped on the suspect as soon as he gave the officer drugs in exchange for the money.
During interrogation, he confessed to officers: “I receive the drugs from an Asian man, and I re-sell them.”
“I agree with him to put the drugs in certain places, but I haven’t ever met him,” he added.
