Police arrested a 32-year-old man for helping people outside Bahrain to carry out electronic fraud. The Anti-Economic Crimes Department of the General Department for Combating Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, in coordination with the Research and Investigation Department, made the arrest.

Police said the man, an Asian national, exploited his job in a phone shop and as an official distributor for telecom companies for committing the crimes.

The man, police said, used his expertise to steal money from the telecom cards to recharge customers. Public Prosecution is pursuing legal measures and has issued alerts through the Department of International Affairs and Interpol to bring those outside Bahrain to justice.

The General Administration of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security calls on the public not to respond to anonymous calls and text messages and disclose personal data to avoid being victims of these operations. No official body will request personal data in his way, said the officials.
