Kukkiwon demonstration shows unique Korean culture

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Kingdom of Bahrain organised its last celebratory event, which comes as part of its programme marking 45 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The event was attended by Korean Ambassador Haekwan Chung in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of General Sports Authority and Bahrain Olympic Committee.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Chung distinguished the Korean-Bahraini relations in the field of sports and gave a background on the official sport of the Republic of Korea – taekwondo, which not only aims to develop self-defence but also enhances self-control, courtesy and personal balance.

The Kukkiwon demonstration received distinguished welcome and appreciation by the high-level attendance of government officials in the field of sports in the Kingdom as well as several ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom and embassy’s honourable guests.

The demonstrations’ agile movements and techniques earned the highest accolades from the sport’s enthusiasts who have gathered to witness the show in celebration of the Korean culture and the widespread of the sport.

At the end of the event, HH Shaikh Khalid received from the Korean Ambassador a certification of the “honorary” dan, in appreciation of all the efforts paid in the development of bilateral ties in the field of sports and promotion of combat sport taekwondo.
