Bahrain has reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Foreign Minister Chief of Arab Affairs Ahmed Mohammed Al Tarifi stressed the Kingdom’s support for their national struggle to achieve all its inalienable rights.

Foremost of these is their right to self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, following the relevant United Nations resolutions, and following the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative with all its elements.

Al Tarifi delivered a speech in an event marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The event was organised by the United Nations office in Bahrain, in cooperation with the Palestinian Embassy in the Kingdom.

Present were Acting Resident Coordinator for UN Activities Mohammed Al Zarqani, the Palestinian Ambassador to Bahrain Taha Mohammed Abdel-Qader, heads of diplomatic missions and the Standing Select Parliamentary Committee on Support of Palestinian People.

Al Tarifi also stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to support the rights of the Palestinian people, until security, stability and peace are achieved in the Middle East, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain utilises its membership in the UN to support the Palestinian cause in various organs of the international organisation.

He underlined the importance of upholding peace as a strategic option, explaining that a just and lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved by ending the Israeli occupation of all Arab lands occupied in 1967, and the return of Palestinian refugees to their lands with compensation, as stipulated by United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 194 of 1948.
