HRH Prince Salman issues edict on master plans for new cities

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad All Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Higher Urban Planning Committee, yesterday issued Edict (65) of 2021, which stipulates the following: Article (1): A task force, affiliated with the Higher Urban Planning Committee, shall be established to examine the master plans of new cities.

Article (2): The task force shall be chaired by Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer, and will include the following members: Shaikha Haifa bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Mohammed Mirza Al Oraibi, Dr Mohammed Juma Al-Rumaidh, Ali Ismail Karimi, Dr Giovanna Carnevali, Paul Lane and Iain Chairee.

Article (3): The task force shall undertake the following tasks and competencies:

1. Review and study the general master plans of the cities to be developed, which are Fasht al Jarim, Suhaila Island, Fasht Al-Adham, Bahrain Gulf, and Hawar Islands, in addition to assessing the outputs of the initial designs and making technical observations and opinions regarding the planning, as well as the economic, social and environmental aspects.

2. Proposing the implementation plan and the necessary procedures for preparing detailed master plans.

3. Any other tasks or competencies assigned to the task force by the Higher Urban Planning Committee.

Article (4): The task force shall develop an internal bylaw to regulate its work and all other matters related to its affairs.

The task force shall appoint a rapporteur from its members or others, who will be responsible for preparing its meetings and its agendas, as well as for writing the minutes of the meetings.

‘Article (5): The relevant ministries, institutions and agencies in the Kingdom shall provide the task force with the data and information it requests and deems necessary for its work.
