The Ministry of Labour and Social Development has announced the completion of employment of more than 25,000 Bahrainis this year.

In its weekly report on employment, the ministry said that from 12 to 18 December, 506 Bahraini job-seekers were employed in 337 companies and institutions operating in the private sector, in addition to training 349 in various programmes.

The total number of new employees has reached 25,142 in 6,642 establishments, exceeding the target number to be employed within the National Programme for Employment in its second edition this year.

The total of those trained reached 12,144, exceeding the initial total number of trainees targeted at 10,000 this year.

In January, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issued directives to launch the second edition of the programme, which aims to create 25,000 jobs in 2021 and provide 10,000 training opportunities annually, to achieve the desired aspirations of making the Bahraini citizens the ideal choice for employment.

The programme aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the services provided, as well as invest in the national competencies and develop them professionally, through improving training and adapting its output to the real needs of the labour market to make Bahrainis the employees of choice in the private sector.

The programme also provides incentives aimed at increasing the pace of employment, through increasing the incentives provided to employers and job-seekers.

These include supporting the salaries of the citizens in the private sector and increasing the support provided by the Unemployment Fund for the unemployed.
