Bahrain backs efforts to boost joint Arab action: Humaidan tells Arab ministers

Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jameel Humaidan, yesterday affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to support joint Arab action and stand by the brotherly Arab countries in implementing their social and development projects and programmes in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
The ministry also reviewed Bahrain’s efforts to ensure a decent living for citizens by strengthening social security and periodic review of service packages.
Speaking during the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, Humaidan also highlighted efforts taken by the government to implement preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of the society against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this context, the Council also hailed Bahrain’s proactive and pioneering experience in addressing the repercussions of the pandemic.
The session discussed efforts to implement the social dimensions of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, reviewed Arab national plans, strategies and policies to eliminate poverty, and reviewed Arab efforts and initiatives to combat the coronavirus pandemic and its repercussions.
The session also discussed proposals for enhancing care and rehabilitation services for people of determination, including preparing a second Arab contract for people with disabilities and a guide to emergency evacuation for people with disabilities under empowerment.
It also discussed the establishment of an authority for the first categories of social protection under the slogan “One Arab family”.
The session reviewed the Council’s programmes and projects for 2022, stressing their compatibility with Arab directions for the economic empowerment of individuals and families and raising their standard of living
