The Capital Municipality affirmed that it is working to continuously improve the quality of services in the Manama Central Market.
Maintenance and development works are being carried out periodically and continuously through contracts.
The Capital Municipality said it had signed a partnership agreement with (Edamah) to develop a truck parking area on the northern side of the central market.
The first of its kind deal, Municipality said, is on an area of 19,000 square meters and will hold 78 trucks, in addition to providing 200 parking spaces for private cars.
The project would start functioning in the first half of 2022. A company will organise the parking lots to carry out the loading and unloading process and give equal opportunity for all market traders.
“This will reduce the random parking in the area through a modern digital system to control the entry and exit of trucks and ensure security.” Guards will be at the site round the clock.
The Municipality said it is renovating toilets, fish auction and unloading areas, maintaining tenant buildings, replacing air conditioners and gates.
