Pedestrians are the most vulnerable when it comes to road accidents in the Bahrain.

A report published by a division within the Ministry of Works has revealed that the maximum victims of road accidents in the past three years were pedestrians.

The report has mainly focused on the previous three years.

The Traffic Safety Group has undertaken many initiatives to reduce traffic accidents, in line with the National Safety Strategy.

“International standards are followed while carrying out the audit,” the report said, adding that all road projects have been equipped with road safety requirements to enhance traffic safety.

It is learnt that 155 audit reports were issued by the group for the three years ranging between 2018 and 2020.

“Awareness on road safety audit and its procedures have increased among the engineers.

These were reflected in the compliance report for each stage of the audit.

The percentage of compliance to the audit had shown a dropdown to 65 per cent.”
