“Khalifia Mobile Library", inaugurated last week by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, as part of National Day celebrations, is eliciting beaming smiles from people as it journeys through the streets of Bahrain.

On Friday, the bus chugged through the Al-Shorouk neighbourhood in Diyar Al-Muharraq in Muharraq, attracting a huge crowd.

Yesterday, the bus was with the people at Al Noor neighbourhood in Diyar Al Muharraq.

The bus will continue to crisscross Bahrain for a year, and its next stop will be Bab Al Bahrain in Manama, where it will stay for three days.

Khalifiya Library is one of the oldest public libraries in Bahrain and the first public library in Muharraq.

The history of the establishment of Al Khalifiyah Library dates back to 1954, and in 2017 the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities reopened it to the people of Muharraq after reviving the original building of the library.

The library is now providing the public with cultural programmes and specialized workshops throughout the year.

The authority said they are now moving this historic library to all parts of the Kingdom to create a reading culture among various segments of the society.
