Leading food brands in the Kingdom are being impersonated on social media by crooks, duping the customers into misplacing money by ordering them.

Brand logos and names are being manipulated to convince the customers on all major social media platforms.

“Unbelievable offers” are also posted on social media to lure more buyers.

When contacted, a top executive of a leading food company in the Kingdom, said they have filed a complaint with the police department.

“Complaints have also been launched with leading social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram.

We hope serious action will be taken against those attempting to impersonate the world’s leading brands to trick the existing customers and destroy the patronage,” the top executive told The Daily Tribune.

J Jose, a resident in the Kingdom, said he ordered pizzas many a time using the link posted on social media, thinking they were original ones.

“It took some time to realise the fraudulent act.

I request the authorities to take urgent action against these fraudsters before many people lose their money,” he said.

A social media manager of a global food brand (Mideast region) told The Daily Tribune that all social media platforms have been alerted over this fraudulent act.

“We expect them to block or remove these fraudsters from all social media platforms,” the manager said.

Many victims have appealed to the authorities to take action against these fraudsters on social media.
