Committee reviews strategic plan to combat AIDS in virtual meeting

A strategic plan to combat the Combating Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) has been reviewed.

This came as Health Minister Faiqa bint Saeed Al Saleh chaired The National Committee for Combating Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) meeting virtually, in the presence of representatives of ministries and official bodies in the committee.

The meeting reviewed the committee’s agenda and approved the implementation of their plans.

The Vice-Chairperson, Dr Maryam Al Hajri, reviewed the strategic plan to combat AIDS, the work of the sub-committees and the implementation of their plans based on the committee’s objectives.

Chairperson of the Subcommittee for Information, Statistics and Scientific Research, Dr Najat Abu Al Fateh, presented a statistics report on the AIDS programme including the achievements, the history of AIDS, and the treatment status of AIDS patients in Bahrain.

Chairperson of the Subcommittee for Guidance and Education, Dr Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa, confirmed the implementation of a detailed media plan for the work of the committee.

Chairperson of the Subcommittee for Treatment and Rehabilitation Dr Jamila Al Salman highlighted the work of the committee and its achievements in the field of AIDS tests and examinations in coordination between the various concerned authorities, confirming the availability of medicines for patients, treatment protocols, noting that the committee will develop a vision for the annual conference to combat the disease with the formation of work teams to find out all the necessary preparations to organising it.

The minister expressed her appreciation to the committee’s members and called on exerting more efforts to protect the rights of people suffering from AIDs and prevent society from the disease.
