Jidhafs Secondary School for Girls triumphs in e-waste competition

Jidhafs Secondary School for Girls has won first place in the e-waste competition, which was organised by Zain Communications, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for the Environment.
It was a culmination of its excellence in implementing school projects such as Green Economy, Sustainable Development Park, Our Class is Environmentally Friendly, E-Recycling, and Sort it Healthy for a Healthier Environment.
Jidhafs Secondary School for Girls is one of the UNESCO-affiliated schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The school pays special attention to implementing qualitative projects and activities aimed at preserving and caring for the environment, through several methods, including recycling electronic and plastic waste.
The Green Economy project aims to encourage female students to stop using temporary plastic water bottles, and replace them with permanent environment-friendly bottles.
The Sustainable Development Park project is the idea of student Ola Al Ajimi, who won the Distinguished Student Award in the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum competition.
It was created with recycled materials and aims to educate its visitors about the sustainable development goals to contribute to their achievement.
The Our Class is Environmentally Friendly project aims to create an environment-friendly classroom, educate students about the goals of sustainable development, and encourage them to contribute to achieving them, which is the idea of student Zainab Abdel Abbas.
The E-Recycling project aims to urge female students to recycle damaged computers and accessories, develop their creativity and innovation spirit by making shapes, models, and paintings, displaying them in the school’s various facilities, and participating in internal and external exhibitions.
