The High Administrative Court rejected a lawsuit that required the Ministry of Housing to pay BD6,000 in moral compensation for filing a lawsuit against a person who published several videos that offended them.

This occurred when a verdict was issued for the person’s innocence concerning the charges related to the videos.

He eventually filed a lawsuit demanding compensation.

However, the court rejected the lawsuit and affirmed that the right to resort to the judiciary system is one of the general rights that are established for everyone, but it is not possible for anyone who exercises it to deviate and use it maliciously to harm others, otherwise, accountability will be due for compensation.

The plaintiff had filed a lawsuit requesting a ruling that would grant him compensation in the amount of BD6,000 in material and moral damages.

He explained that the ministry had filed a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecution against him.

As a result, the case was handed to the criminal court that charged the plaintiff with a misdemeanour of insulting a regulatory body.

However, he was acquitted of this charge, and the plaintiff claimed he suffered from moral damages, which caused him to experience frustration and isolation that affected his family role in caring for his children, and that he incurred expenses related to lawyers’ fees and other damages.
