Bahrain School students have participated in the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition that puts teams of high and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company.
Through a series of online competition rounds, teams are challenged with a set of virtual operating systems and are tasked with finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. The competition includes multiple rounds of participation.
“We were the only team in the Middle East to participate and we have gained invaluable experience,” Joshua Crist, the teacher who oversaw the school’s participation, said.
The top teams earn all-expenses-paid trips to Maryland for the National Finals Competition in April where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.
