Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, hailed in a statement the comprehensive reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He said that the project comes to unite society and the interests of citizens. It protects national values and the rights of citizens under one national identity.
He said that the reform project asserts the values of justice, tolerance, coexistence and openness that move the progress forward. “It is based on the principles of the National Action Charter to achieve the goal of the modern state of enabling Bahrainis to enjoy their fundamental rights with responsible justice and freedom within the framework of improving the civilised aspects of Bahrain regionally and internationally,” he said.
He highlighted that the Charter and the Constitution were inspired from HM the King's reform project that protects rights and defines responsibilities to protect social cohesion. “The principles include the freedom of faith and tolerance between sects and religions, as reinforced values in the culture and identity of Bahrain,” he noted.
He said that the National Action Charter, whose anniversary will be celebrated soon, defines the rights of all society members, including women and children. It provides the rights of housing, medical and education to all to promote bonds between members of the society.
The Interior Ministry said that the Bahraini society values its national principles, and there is no place for attempts to undermine civil peace. He stressed that nothing comes above national unity, adding that the protection of community security and safety is a priority to tackle different situations and challenges.
He noted that national responsibility requires commitment to national duties. "The strength is in our unity and requires the reinforcement of moderation, tolerance, respect for others, and rejection of violence and hatred," he concluded.
