Light-1’s name draws inspiration from HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s book, The First Light. First published in 1995, the book throws light on modern Bahrain and its heritage.
About the book, HM King writes, “I consider this book, in a way, a tale of small and distinct country and an account of its struggle for self-preservation, continued development and progress despite all the challenges it faces in this sensitive corner of the world. The ‘Bahraini example’ provides living proof that a small productive country can become an important factor in the stability and development of the region, in which it exists, and thereafter in the entire world.”
The book, which was rated “interesting” by many readers is available for purchase on Amazon. Kindle edition sells at $36.51, 166 pages hardcover copy at $17.61 and paperback at $52.95. Routledge Taylor and Francis Group had published the book.
“Very interesting history of Bahrain especially since it is written by a member of the Royal Family,” a reader on ‘goodreads’ rates the book. “The book was authored by King Hamad bin Isa, the current King of Bahrain, back in 1986 when he was the Crown Prince & Heir Apparent.
It provides an insightful view into the history of wars in Bahrain (briefly), the founding and development of Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) and the King’s perspective on the political, economic, social and military problems the GCC countries had to face in 1995 (when this book was published in English) and will have to face in the future,” writes another reader.
