Small ship registration office completed 18,667 services in 2021

The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced completing more than 18,000 registration and licencing requests for small vessels last year. Kamal Ahmed, the minister of Transport and Communications, said the Ports and Maritime Affairs at the minister this way completed 18,667 services in 2021 for fishing and picnic vessels, water bikes, private yachts, and passenger ships.
The Small Vessels Registration Office at the Ports and Maritime Affairs Headquarters, the minister said, is equipped with all devices, printers and waiting facilities. The facility has 13 employees trained to carry out registration, licensing and technical examination, besides having employees from Coast Guard assisting the office and training new employees.
Breaking down further, the minister said 2,369 of the services were for pleasure vessel registration, 7,657 for navigation license issuance, 518 for water bike registration, 2,236 for technical inspection, 2,517 for ownership transfer, 119 for write-off certificates, 163 for issuing lost certificates, and 1,334 for data change.
The ministry digitised two of its services -- the renewal of registration and navigation license for pleasure cruises --and provided them online through the eGovernment portal. “The ministry is also currently undertaking all necessary procedures to complete the automating all its services with the eGovernment authority,” the minister said.
